Year of Opening Session of Honours (now Major) Course: 1964-65.
Courses: TDC Major & General classes Post Graduate M.A course was conducted from 1990 to 1999. Likely to open P.G. courses again this year.
Departmental Library: Total number of Books are 1012 (One thousand twelve). The books are regularly issued to the faculty members & students in the subject of Major & Elective Assamese.Besides this, a small library is also here in the name of Sonapati Deva Sarma, It is donated by Sri Dinesh Ch. Sarma(son of Sonapati Deva sarma), Ambarihati, Barpeta, Assam, India.
Museum: A small museum is set up.
UGC Sponsored seminar : In 2012 the dept. organized a UGC- sponsored National Level seminar on “Morphological study on Badhakavay of Ram Saraswati in the medieval period” Departmental Seminar : with Major students -12 Field Study 4 : Places- Bennibari(Howly), Kahitama(Bagsa), Barama(Bagsa) & Bashbari (Bagsa) Educational tour- 2 Sankardeva Kala khetra & North Guwahati.
Wall Megazin: A wall Megazine is published by the Students of Major courses in every year.
